ABOUT THE DOCTOR
Vala Eye Centre is helmed by our vitreoretinal surgeon – Dr.Ruchi Vala. She is a trained Vitreo Retina Surgeon and Uveitis Specialist. She finished her Undergraduate ( M.B.B.S) from Government Medical College, Surat in 2011. She pursued her Postgraduation in Ophthalmology from Sumandeep Vidyapeeth University, Vadodara. To find her path in the retina, she did a 2-year long-term fellowship from Narayana Nethralaya Eye Hospital, Bangalore. At this Alma Mater, she finished an exclusive six months research fellowship in Uvea under Dr.Padmamalini Mahendradas and eighteen months fellowship in Medical and Surgical Retina thereafter. There, under Dr. Ananad Vinekar’s guidance, she was trained for pediatric retinal diseases like Retinopathy of Prematurity ( ROP). Thereon, she went on to work as a Vitreoretinal surgeon in Sumandeep Vidyapeeth, Narayan Eye Hospital, Tajpura, in Vadodara followed by K.D.Hospital, SRG Hospital, and Contacare Eye Care in Ahmedabad. Over these courses, she has published various national and international articles in acclaimed journals and even written book chapters in Ophthalmology books. She has presented her research and clinical work in various national and international conferences like AIOS, EURETINA, RETNET. Her hobbies include reading books, classical dancing ( Bharatnatyam), traveling, and meeting new people. Her love for her profession is reflected in her clinic and she hopes that with it she can help many people get the right treatment at the right time.
