Who this page is for

ONGC employees, their dependants and ONGC retirees who hold cashless entitlement, and patients whose health insurance falls under the GIC insurance panels the clinic currently honours. If your insurer or scheme is not named here, call us — we can tell you within a few minutes whether cashless is possible or whether a reimbursement route applies.

What is covered on a cashless basis

Our empanelment covers OPD, inpatient and surgical care. In practice that means the eye procedures we perform at the centre — cataract surgery, retina laser, intravitreal injections, vitrectomy and other vitreo-retinal surgery, glaucoma treatment and related procedures — can be taken up on a cashless basis where your policy covers them and pre-authorisation is approved. No procedure is guaranteed to be 100% cashless in every case; the insurer’s approval letter is what decides the amount.

How cashless treatment works at Vala Eye Centre

  1. Verify. Call or WhatsApp us with your insurer or scheme name and card or policy number. We confirm whether cashless applies to your cover.
  2. Pre-authorisation. After the consultation, our desk sends the pre-authorisation request — diagnosis, planned procedure, estimate and reports — to your insurer or TPA.
  3. Approval. The insurer or TPA replies with an approval and the sanctioned amount. Approval times vary by insurer; we keep you informed.
  4. Treatment. Your procedure goes ahead on the scheduled date. Any amount outside the approved limit is explained to you before treatment, never after.
  5. Settlement. We settle the approved amount directly with the insurer or TPA. You pay only the non-covered portion, if any.

What is usually covered, and what usually is not

Every policy differs, so treat this as a guide and let us confirm your case.

  • Usually covered: medically necessary cataract surgery with a standard lens, retina surgery and laser, intravitreal injections for approved indications, glaucoma surgery, and the inpatient or day-care charges that go with them.
  • Often involves a co-payment: premium lens upgrades in cataract surgery (multifocal, toric or extended-depth-of-focus IOLs), room or category upgrades, and amounts above your policy’s sub-limits for a given procedure.
  • Usually not covered: routine spectacle prescriptions, purely cosmetic procedures, and consumables or items your policy specifically excludes.

What to bring

  • Your insurer, TPA or ONGC health card, or the policy number
  • Photo ID (Aadhaar, PAN or passport)
  • For dependants: the document that establishes the relationship with the primary member, if your scheme asks for it
  • Any referral letter or prescription your scheme requires before treatment
  • Previous eye reports, scans and current medication list

Frequently asked questions

Is Vala Eye Centre ONGC cashless empanelled in Vadodara?

Yes. Vala Eye Centre (Dr. Ruchi Vala) is empanelled with ONGC for cashless eye treatment covering OPD, inpatient and surgical care. Verification of the empanelment is available on request. Please call before your visit so we can confirm your entitlement.

What does “GIC” mean on your cashless list?

We use GIC to mean the GIC insurance panels the clinic currently honours for cashless eye care. Bring your insurer or TPA card and we will confirm whether cashless applies to your policy. Empanelment verification is available on request.

Which eye surgeries are cashless at Vala Eye Centre?

Cataract surgery, retina laser, intravitreal injections, vitrectomy and other vitreo-retinal surgery, and glaucoma procedures can all be taken up on a cashless basis, subject to your policy terms and pre-authorisation approval. The insurer’s approval letter decides the sanctioned amount.

How do I get pre-authorisation for cataract or retina surgery?

After your consultation, our desk prepares and sends the pre-authorisation request to your insurer or TPA with the diagnosis, planned procedure, estimate and reports. You do not need to file it yourself. Approval times vary by insurer.

Do I need a referral to visit as an ONGC or panel patient?

Some schemes require a referral or prescription from an authorised doctor before treatment is sanctioned. Bring any referral your scheme asks for; if you are unsure, call us and we will tell you what your scheme needs.

What if my procedure is not fully covered?

We tell you before treatment what the approved amount covers and what, if anything, you would pay yourself — for example a premium lens upgrade. Nothing is added after the procedure.

My insurer is not named here. Can I still get cashless treatment?

Possibly. Call 63593 34400 or message us on WhatsApp with your insurer’s name and we will check. If cashless is not available for your policy, we can guide you on the reimbursement route.
